Dear Students,

We are addressing you to make an earnest appeal against ragging at GEC Bharatpur. Ragging is a social menace and we have to abolish it, since it has no place in a civilized society. Honorable Supreme Court of India, in its order has made it mandatory for all educational institutions to report ragging incidents to the local police and has stipulated that exemplary punishments be given to those indulged in this heinous activity.

GEC Bharatpur is a prestigious institute and we all bear the responsibility to uphold its image. Any anti-social activity or ragging has no place in this institute. Hence, all students are advised not to indulge in ragging and also discourage other students from indulging in any such activity. All students are expected to behave as responsible citizens and be accountable for their actions.

All senior students must realize that they have some moral duties towards this institute and must come forward to help in establishing a ragging free and congenial environment for the newcomers. RAGGING

Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act, which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in fresher or junior student(s) or asking the student(s) to do any act or perform something, which such student(s) will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

PUNISHMENT

Expulsion/ suspension from the institution/hostel/classes for a limited period or fine, withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits, debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process, withholding results, rustication from the institution for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters. Ragging in any form is punishable under the Court of Law.
